Role
Clayton Keller is the Mammoth captain and the engine of the top line. Through seven games he skates with Nick Schmaltz and Vincent Trocheck, and he runs the first power-play unit alongside Schmaltz, Logan Cooley, Dylan Guenther and Mikhail Sergachev. Keller has 9 points in 7 games (1 goal, 8 assists), and his assists were third in the league as of Oct. 6 (per the team's game story).
Outlook
His production barely moves from year to year. Keller put up 90 points in 2024-25 and 88 in 2025-26 (26 goals, 62 assists), and last season's plus-21 was a big swing from minus-12 the year before. He was the No. 7 pick in 2016, and the points have followed ever since the Arizona days.
Our take: the goals are the only thing missing so far, with one on 17 shots. That will fix itself. We expect another 85-plus-point year, mostly because Schmaltz is shooting everything in sight and Keller is happy to feed him.
