Role
Peeke is a 6'3", 214-pound right-shooting defenseman who was the 34th pick in the 2016 draft by Columbus. Utah signed him on July 3 to a one-year, $1 million deal, according to Deseret News. He played parts of three seasons in Boston and had 5 goals and 9 assists in 77 games there in 2025-26.
He averages 15:17 this season and has 1 goal and 2 assists in seven games, playing next to Simashev. In the opener he assisted on Anders Lee's goal.
Outlook
Our take: Peeke is a bottom-pair defender, and the job is to make Simashev's life easier. His plus-minus in Boston was minus-10 in 2024-25 and minus-12 in 2025-26, so the on-ice results are not why he's here.
We think he gets about 70 games and 10 to 15 points. A one-year deal for $1 million keeps the cost low, and Nick DeSimone and Maveric Lamoureux are waiting if he slips.
