Role
Vejmelka is our starter. He went 38-20-3 last season with a 2.75 goals-against average, a .897 save percentage, and 2 shutouts in 64 games (63 starts), per NHL.com. In the playoffs he lost four of six starts to Vegas in the first round. He signed a five-year extension with a $4.75 million average annual value in March 2025, according to KSL.
He is 4-1 this season with a 2.46 GAA, a .895 save percentage, and one shutout, the first home shutout in franchise history in the 6-0 win over Chicago on Oct. 1. The Delta Center chanted "Veggie" all night.
Outlook
Our take: the save percentage is the number to watch. He has finished between .897 and .904 for the past five seasons, so we aren't expecting a jump.
With Sebastian Cossa behind him, we expect about 55 starts and a save percentage near .905. A rested Vejmelka in April would help the playoff run more than a few extra wins in November.
